What a year it has been!

We will keep this edition of What’s Happening short and sweet, but we’d like to start by thanking you all for your support of Volunteering Tasmania this year, in particular, our members.

It has been a huge year for volunteering in Tasmania, culminating last week in the release of the informative and powerful State of Volunteering Report 2014.

We have had a busy year doing our best to support and promote effective volunteering in Tasmania.

Here are some of the highlights for us (you can click on some of these for more information):

• We built a partnership with TAFE and offered accredited training in Tasmania for managers of volunteers

• National Volunteer Week celebrations

• The Volunteer Issues Forum with the Premier and Guy Barnett

• Attending the IAVE conference on the Gold Coast, and being able to offer scholarships for volunteers and managers to attend with us

• Regional Volunteering Tasmania Roundtables

• Our State Manager Jill Maxwell's involvement in the wonderful Join, Learn, Be Ready campaign

• Our successful submission for funding to implement a new emergency services volunteer database 'CREW' in 2015

• Our advocacy work regarding the cost of Working with Children Registrations for volunteers and volunteer involving organisations

• CEO Adrienne Picone's volunteering blog 'Abundant Contribution' launched

• The announcement of two new Volunteering Tasmania life members: Shirley Haas and June Hazzlewood

• International Volunteer Managers’ Day high tea and morning teas

• International Volunteer Day celebrations

• The release of the first Volunteering Tasmania stakeholder feedback survey

• The creation and release of the State of Volunteering Report 2014

Our office will close at midday on December 24th and reopen Monday 5th January.
