It all starts here at PCYC Queensland...where it ends is up to you! Making dreams come true! Byron’s PCYC Queensland story is inspiring and highlights the amazing impact PCYC branches can have on a community. When Byron was only six years old, he was encouraged to explore the different activities at his local PCYC Sunshine Coast. It was here that he discovered his passion for basketball. Byron became an integral member to the PCYC community, participating in PCYC’s Deep Blue Line program as a teenager to foster self-confidence and development. Aged 18, Byron finished high school and obtained his license with the help of PCYC Braking the Cycle Program. With his license, he became able to work and attend basketball training. Byron continued his passion for basketball and with the help of PCYC Queensland is working to pursue his dream! Byron is one of countless people who have positively connected with our PCYC Queensland community and your support makes all the difference. Please help more young people like Byron to reach for their dreams by making a donation today. PCYC Queensland getting involved in the Commonwealth Games! The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (GC2018) were definitely a highlight for 2018 and it was great to see PCYC Queensland getting involved in helping make sport such a positive choice. Over 30 of our colleagues worked as volunteer ‘Games Shapers’ throughout the events. PCYC Cooktown, PCYC Mt Isa, PCYC Castle Hill, PCYC Ipswich and PCYC Lang Park all took part in the Queen’s Baton Relay. Above: Liam Wilson ready for the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2018 Our very own members including PCYC Pine Rivers boxer Liam Wilson, PCYC Lang Park wrestler Tom Cicchini, and former PCYC Ashmore gymnastics prodigy Georgia Godwin, all took part along with coaches, officials and more. PCYC Queensland has also been fortunate to receive a bevy of GC2018 sports post games assets including gymnastics, weightlifting, boxing, netball, squash and beach volleyball that will continue to inspire our young people to reach for their dreams, now and in the future.
