2nd Grade eNews

Please don’t forget we are out of school on Friday, March 15th. The following week will be our Spring Break - no school March 18th-22th. We will see the students again on Monday, March 25th. Enjoy this time with your families! We will take our Bible and spelling tests on Thursday this week.

Best of the Best

We know that Shiloh is a truly special place. Our students, parents, teachers and staff make Shiloh Christian School an amazing place to raise and educate the next generation of leaders. We are excited to announce that Shiloh was voted Best of the Best Medal Winner for Best Private School, Best Preschool, Best Elementary, Best Middle School and Best High School! Thank you for helping us win this great achievement!

Next Week

Bible - We will study the compassion of Jesus.
Memory Verse - Matthew 9:36, “When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Reading - We will work on the skill of drawing conclusions. Our story will be “The Goat in the Rug.”
Spelling - Words with the suffix ly or ful. The two review words use ed and ing.
Words - helpful sadly hopeful thankful slowly wishful kindly useful safely painful mouthful weakly came want
Grammar - We will work with irregular verbs such as have, has, had, and when to use them.
Math - We will finish our chapter on Multiplication (multiply by 0-5 and 10). Then we will test on Thursday. Multiplication facts do not need to be memorized, we will focus on skip counting.

Important Dates

March 11- We will be going to the Springdale campus to see the Barn Hill Preserve in Kids’ Theater. A permission slip and photo form will come home - students must bring the permission slip back to see these exotic animals...photos are optional and the cost for a photo is $10.00.
March 14 - Student-Led Conferences after school 3:30-5:00, these are drop-in.
March 15-22 - NO SCHOOL - SPRING BREAK - SCHOOL BEGINS ON MARCH 25th
April 1-5 - This will be the week of TN3 testing - we will test beginning at 8:15 a.m. until recess time at 11:00 a.m. Please do not schedule any doctor or dentist appointments during this week, if at all possible.
April 10 - Our class will join the second graders from the Springdale campus and go to the War Eagle Bat Caves. Unfortunately, due to limited space in the cave, parents may not attend. Students will need a sack lunch on this day.
April 18 - Easter and Speech Meet at Cross Church Worship Center at 8:30
April 19 - Good Friday, No School!
May 20 - Field Day and water slide, more information to come
