You Will Be My Witnesses

Jesus' plan called for action, and how He expressed it predicted its success.

He didn't say "you *might* be my witnesses," or "you *could* be my witnesses," or even "you *should* be my witnesses."

He said "You WILL be my witnesses.”

40-Day Countdown

Starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our official 40-Day Countdown for the 2013 LUC Youth Evangelism Congress.

For the next 40 Days, we hope to pray, reflect and ponder 40 ways to become the WITNESSES Jesus prophecied we'd become!

The 40-Day Devotional and Discussion will take place at our Congress Blog.

You can follow and join in the discussion through:

40 Ways To Be A Witness

To help you start on your New Year's Resolutions, here are some ways you can intentionally BE A WITNESS all throughout the upcoming year for God.  Be sure to read through them and put some in your calendar!

1. Start a bible study for the purpose of inviting lost friends.

2. Organize a picnic in the park and invite everyone on your block.

3. Send a letter (snail mail) to a lost friend with the goal of sharing the gospel.  Give your friend a bible as a gift.

4. When doing business at your local bank, grocery store, or a fast food place, tell the service person that you appreciate them.

5. When eating at a restaurant, leave a tract with a generous tip.

6. Offer to assist your neighbors in some special task they are attempting to do and take the time to witness to them.

7. At the drive-through or toll booth, pay for the meal or toll of the person behind you.

8. Make special plans to visit lost relatives and witness to them.

9. Ask your pastor if you can start a Sabbath school class at your church for your friends who have left the church.

10. Plan an outdoor movie night: get a projector and show a family-friendly movie on your garage door.  Invite the whole neighborhood.

11. Leave a note of encouragement on your co-worker's desk or on the windshield of his or her car.

12. Participate in a New Testament distribution in a local neighborhood.  Include a response card for follow-up.

13. Stop and talk with a homeless person. Find out his or her story.

14. Distribute tracts in public areas. Place a phone # and church address on it.

15. Invite friends to church events.

16. Bake a cake or fix a meal for a new neighbor or a sick friend.  Share your testimony and visit on a regular basis.

17. When paying your bills, include a gospel tract with your payments.

18. When shopping at a mall, leave tracts near sitting areas.

19. Invite your friends at church to help you conduct a community survey in your neighborhood. Take time to witness to those you interview.

20. Volunteer to coach a boys or girls baseball, basketball, or football team. Invite them to your church.

21. Get permission to set-up a telephone outreach ministry at your church and share the gospel.

22. Memorize short scriptures to use in conversation about life and faith.

23. Start a community garden.

24. Rally several friends together and go door-to-door in your neighborhood, offering to wash people’s cars.

25. Write to the editor when the press misrepresents the Christian faith.

26. Volunteer.  Find a cause to be passionate about and do something about it.

27. Be intentional by sprinkling references to your church life into ordinary conversations (“Someone at my church told me about this place with great deals on the ipad-mini.”)

28. If you’re on Twitter, tweet about church experiences.  Post a Tweet about the sermon if it moves you!

29. Refill the parking meter when you leave a spot.

30. At the beginning of both semesters of the school year, purchase and drop off a bag of pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, crayons, scissors, glue or other supplies at a local school.

31. Check your local high school’s Web site for the athletics schedule and support one of the less-followed teams by going to a lacrosse or soccer match or a cross-country or swim meet.

32. Stop by a co-worker’s desk and invite him or her to dinner.

33. Drop a plate of brownies or a quiche (or a full meal) or a case of soft drinks at your local fire or police station.

34. Pray before you eat in public

35. Give blood.

36. Donate a Christian book to the library.

37. When drivers try to merge into your lane, let them in with a wave and a smile.

38. Offer to babysit for free to give a single parent (or new parents) an evening off.

39. Buy a bouquet and a dozen helium balloons.  Attach a short note of encouragement and blessing (include your favorite Bible verse).  Deliver it anonymously to your local hospital and ask the nurses to give it to whoever needs it most.

40. Keep an extra umbrella in your car and give it to the next person you see stuck in a downpour.
