2nd Grade eNews

I am so proud of how well everyone did with their speeches. Remember Monday, we do not have school in observance of MLK Day. Tuesday we will celebrate the 100th day of school by dressing up like a 100-year-old.

• Bible - We will study about Esther and being unselfish from Esther 3-5, Phil. 2:3-4, and John 3:16.  Our memory verse will be:
• Philippians 2:4, "Everyone should look out not only for his own interest but also for the interests of others."
• Reading - We will be reading Luke Goes to Bat and talking about baseball heroes such as Jackie Robinson.
• Science - We will also incorporate force, motion, and gravity as it relates to baseball. We will do various STEM centers for the 100th day of school.
• Spelling - Long i (i, igh, ie, y)  night   kind   spy   child   light   find   right   high   wild   July   fry   sigh   say great
• Grammar - Subject-Verb Agreement
• Math - We will continue working with money (identifying the value of each coin, the value of a set of coins, and adding money).

This is a great opportunity to learn about Shiloh, hear from our leadership, and visit with current students, families, and teachers. • January 21 - No School - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• January 31 - Book orders and box tops due! We will have a special chapel to introduce our service project for the month of February.
• The month of February - We will start Pennies for Patients. Our service project this month is to raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
• February 7 - SHILOH CONNECT for Shiloh families from 8 - 9 am followed by 1st Grade Little Dribblers & PH Jigglers at 9:15 am in SEC Gym (we will travel to the Springdale campus for this)
• February 14 - Valentine’s Day Party 2:30-3:00 in our classroom, more details to come
• February 18 - No School - Presidents’ Day
• February 19 - Discover Shiloh Dinner Event for prospective families from 6 - 7-30 pm in the Kids Theater
• February 22 - Our class will travel to the Springdale campus to see the 3rd grade Wax Museum, have lunch, and have a tour of the school. Students and parents may buy lunch for $4 or bring their own lunch.  I will let you know what the menu is when I find out.
