Kindergarten eNews

We are reading, adding, and writing, oh my! We are busy in kindergarten. Let’s make the most of next week learning all that we can before Thanksgiving and remembering all that God has blessed us with. We are so THANKFUL!

Academics

  • Unit Study: We will learn more about Native American tribes and Thanksgiving.
  • Show and Tell: Complete an “I am Thankful for…” poster. (Use the construction paper provided by your teacher)
  • Bible: We will finish learning about the Life of Moses and begin the Life of Joshua.
  • Bible Verse: Psalm 100:4, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise! Be thankful unto Him and bless His name!”
  • Reading: We will learn the w (wagon) and digraph wh (whistle) and continue to practice reading stories from our classroom readers.
  • Sight Words: are, out, they
  • Comprehensive list for this 9 weeks: put, her, he, she, to, help, can, not, too, stop
  • Math: We will continue practicing Adding 1, introduce the 70s family (70, 71, 72…), counting from 1 to 79, understanding “after” numbers (2 is after 1), and reviewing previously learned concepts (number families, left and right, penny value, number recognition, telling time and number writing)

Important Dates

  • November 14 - Christmas in November—Wear a Christmas sweater, t-shirt, or pajamas! And Bring $1, $2, or $3 dollars to support Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.
  • November 21-25 - NO SCHOOL, Thanksgiving Break
  • December 16 - Christmas parties and early dismissal. No extended care.
  • December 17-January 3 - NO SCHOOL, Christmas break
