WeOS 4.22.0 is released

Westermo is happy to announce the release of WeOS 4.22.0.
The new version contains new features that add on to the already extensive set of features in WeOS. As a part of the continuous quality improvement process Westermo has further strengthened the already high quality of WeOS.

New features
WeOS is with version 4.22.0 extended with the following new features:

Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) – support for the roles MRP Manager and MRP Client
IEEE 802.1X Active Mode – enables WeOS devices to be used in a wider range of applications where IEEE 802.1X port authentication is used.
Ping trigger status available via SNMP – typically used to monitor the status of links in a redundant topology

Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP)

With version 4.22.0, WeOS supports the Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP). MRP, defined in IEC 62439-2, is a protocol that handles redundancy in ring topologies. Typical use cases for MRP are rings with switches from different vendors, rings with Profinet devices and where an open standard is required.

The following MRP features are supported in WeOS:

MRP Manager
MRP Client
Reconfiguration time 200 ms

MRP is enabled in WeOS by installing an MRP license in the switch. To obtain the license, order the WeOS option MRP Manager and Client through your normal sales channel.

Upgrading the Viper switches

When upgrading Viper 12A and 20A products to WeOS 4.22.0 from the CLI or Web, a prerequisite is to first upgrade the product to WeOS 4.21.3.

WeOS 4.21.3 is available for download through the product support section on the Westermo website. Search your product and find WeOS in the Firmware section.

WeOS units manufactured after the release of WeOS 4.22.0 will have the latest version installed.

The new version of the WeOS firmware is also available for download from the Westermo website. Version 4.22.0 is verified to support all active WeOS products, i.e. products presented on the website at the time of release.
