Our Community, Our Stories – CPC Promotes Lifetime Achievement: Karen Liu The "Our Community, Our Stories" campaign was launched to share the personal stories of different community members directly impacted by CPC. Our seventh community story features Karen Chang Liu. Karen is CPC’s former Assistant Executive Director and former Director of Childhood Development Services. She grew up in a modest household in Hawaii. “I was shy. I was a typical Asian because we were brought up with ‘you don't talk too much, but when you speak, you speak the truth and with a humble
heart.’”
Con Edison’s support will go towards the CPC Adult Literacy Program’s ESOL Courses, Citizenship Preparation Classes, and Language Exchange Program. With this programming, CPC continues to support community members through wellness checks, counseling, and assistance with basic needs like food, health, shelter, and economic
security.
FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age.
CPC Helps Community Access Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) New Yorkers who owe back rent from March 13th, 2020 and are unable to pay their rent, or are at risk of homelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for help now. All people residing in New York are eligible to apply regardless of their immigration status. CPC is assisting tenants in Lower Manhattan with the ERAP application process.
CPC Queens Community Services Reopens for
In-Person Respite Programming for Families On July 17th, CPC reopened our Queens Community Center to families of our Intellectual and Developmental Disability I/DD community to be together after many months of remote programming. Our community members participated in exercises for strength, flexibility, and coordination with music and dance and got creative using watercolor paints and colored pencils.
CPC and CaringKind Work Together on Preventing Dementia CPC Brooklyn Community Services partnered with CaringKind on a virtual workshop on July 16th to provide resources and education on the prevention of dementia. The workshop focused on how chronic diseases are risk factor in dementia amongst our elderly population.
CPC Brooklyn Senior Services Brings Together Members for End of Year Celebration CPC Brooklyn Senior Services held a Year-End Celebration on June 30th, 2021, for our senior members. About 150 senior members joined for the outdoor event, which was also an opportunity to share updated safety guidelines and our carefully crafted reopening plans with our seniors.

CPC and Allies Testify at Transforming Foundations: Overcoming Racial Disparities in Health and Mental HealthOn July 20th, CPC President and CEO Wayne Ho joined allies in testifying at Transforming Foundations: Overcoming Racial Disparities in Health and Mental Health, a public hearing hosted by the NYC Racial Justice Commission.
CPC and Subsidiary Welcome New Board Members CPC is excited to announce the elections of Calvin Chin and Chester P. Lee to its Board of Directors as well as Charles Do and Michael Lee to the Board of Directors of its subsidiary, CPC Home Attendant Program.
CPC President and CEO Wayne Ho Named to City & State's Power of Diversity: Asian 100 CPC President and CEO Wayne Ho was named as #17 to City & State's Power of Diversity: Asian 100 in the July 18th issue. Congratulations to all of our allies who were recognized.

Many of our services are available via virtual/remote access. We will be providing one-on-one career counseling, resume reviewing, searching and applying for jobs, and more.
