PreK4 eNews

We had another great week talking about the special families that God gave us! We also worked hard learning the letter “Cc”. The show and tell items helped reinforce the sound “c” makes.  Thank you for helping your child select an item; it is a proud moment when they get to share…and Show and Tell builds confidence, vocabulary, and other language skills!

Next week, we will enjoy learning about apples.  The children will taste a variety of apples, make a class graph of favorites, and help make applesauce.  How fun!  Please send 2 apples with your child at the beginning of the week.  We appreciate your help in making this week tasty and educational!

Next Week

  • Bible Verse: “For nothing is impossible with God.”  Luke 1:37 (We will practice this verse for two weeks.  Practice at home too!)
  • Bible:  Abraham and Lot
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the letter “Aa” and the short vowel sound that /a/makes (think alligator, apple). We will continue to learn that words have syllables.
  • Math:  #3, interpreting data on a graph
  • Unit: Apples
  • Show and Tell:  Bring 2 apples (any variety)

Reminders

  • We participate in the Box Tops for Education program.  Clip box tops from various products and send those to school with your child.  We have a contest each month to see how many each grade level collects.
  • Snacks: Monday through Friday – Cereal, crackers, pretzels, or goldfish.  Dried fruit will be offered.

Looking Ahead

  • September 13th – Cookie Dough fundraiser orders are due.
  • September 14th - Dads and Donuts and “signing day”. Dads are invited to drop in between 7:00-8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria and start the day with their child and a donut breakfast. “Signing Day” at 7:30 a.m.  Shiloh cheerleaders and football players will be at the elementary drop off area, signing t-shirts and taking pictures with the children.  Children in our 3 day classes are welcome to come to have donuts and to see the football players.  We just will not be in class that day!
  • September 28th - Grandparents Day Program (performed by Shiloh third graders) at 9:00 a.m. in the Worship Center. Grandparents and parents are invited to visit our classrooms following the performance. School will be dismissed following the program and there is no extended care on this day.  3 day students are welcome to come enjoy the program with grandparents if they wish!
