5th Grade eNews

Parent/Teacher conferences are Monday! There is no school for students this day. 

Next Week

  • Bible:  God Uses Judges
  • Verse:  “For you are saved through grace by faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift -- not from works so that no one can boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Reading: We will continue our reading skill, Character, and The War That Saved My Life.
  • Spelling:  r-controlled vowels (er, ir, ur)
  • Words: adverb, alert, concern, convert, expect, fiber, furnish, further, gurgle, surplus, urchin, churn, Thursday, thirst, confirm, birth, birch, skirmish, smirk, twirl
  • Language: Analogies, helping verbs, the adverb “not”; Chapter 4 test on Tuesday, October 16
  • Math: Chapter 4 - Geometry: rays, angles, measuring and drawing angles, triangles; speed drill on Wednesday, October 10 (dividing by 10)
  • Science: Begin Chapter 7: Interactions in an Ecosystem
  • Social Studies: Completing WWII; Chapter 14 test on Wednesday, October 17

Fall Carnival & Silent Auction

It’s almost time for the annual Junior Class FALL CARNIVAL & SILENT AUCTION! Tuesday, October 23rd from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the SEC Gym. There will be games, candy, food & fun – what more could you ask for! $10 wristbands will be sold for unlimited play time.

Upcoming Events

October 15 - Parent/Teacher Conferences - students will not have school on this day.  All 5th-grade teachers will be in the library.  You will sign up for a time with your child’s homeroom teacher, but the other teachers will be available if you need to touch base with them. Conferences will be approximately 20-25 minutes.  Sign-ups were sent out this week. 

October 22 - Flu clinic-more information to come

October 23 - Junior Fall Carnival & Silent Auction

October 24 - 5th-grade meeting in the Music Room at 2:30 for Puberty Class and Overnight Science Trip

October 31 - Picture Retakes
