Pro Shop NewsPlaying at Trentham Golf Club on Friday 31st May, I was delighted to have finished tied 6th in my Women's PGA 36 hole Championship. Coming into the tournament on the back of a niggly injury, I was pleasantly surprised to be in contention after the 1st round after shooting -1 and happy to have battled through the 2nd round only 4 over, it was fair to say that my concentration levels were struggling, to finish +3 for the tournament. More importantly, after struggling to walk 18 holes a month ago I was thrilled to have walked the 36 holes without too much trouble and really enjoyed myself out on the fairways. A big thank you to Chris for his help and support whilst on the bag - yes we are still speaking. :)
Thanks to Lady Captain - Helen Long, Paula Marshall & Jo Pearson for making up the Belton Park team in Market Rasen's ladies Pro Am on the 20th May. Finishing up a creditable 8th on -5 in the team competition and myself finishing tied 7th in the individual on +2, we had a a lot of fun on the course. Thanks to Market Rasen for their excellent hospitality and delightful desserts. New to GolfBack in April, we started a New to Golf scheme to give people with little or no golfing experience the opportunity try golf at Belton Park Golf Club. After an initial taster session, everyone signed up for the four follow up sessions which covered the basic shots in golf and finished with a 3 hole texas scramble to put them in to use. So far we have had 6 join the club on our new Academy membership, which will include additional coaching sessions, the opportunity to get out onto the golf course and the use of all practice facilities. I'm sure that everyone will make them welcome to the club and help them on their journey to becoming full playing members at the club. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with the on course Golf Access events that we will run throughout the year, please contact the Pro Shop. Junior NewsThe 2nd fixture in the Golf Sixes was held at Toft Golf Club. The team finished 4th with some great golf and lots of learning about slopes!! Congratulations to Lilliya for winning the nearest the line challenge and to all who took part. Huge thanks to PGA Pro Darren Game for all of his hard work in coordinating the fixture.
Golf Access & 9 Hole StablefordOur juniors took part in another 6 hole Golf Access event with Charlie Grindal winning his third straight event and moving up another level to Navy, with his sister Bea also completing the Aqua level. All of the juniors have now moved up to at least amber level with some wonderful golf and are all playing in the 6 hole events. For our juniors with a Congu handicap, we have been running some 9 hole stableford events to help them gain more experience of playing competitive golf and congratulations go to Lilliya Greene who won with 19 stableford points. Thank you to all of the parents and volunteers, who help with the card marking as these events wouldn't happen without them The next event is on Sunday 9th of June. And, if anyone is wanting to help out with the junior competitions, please contact the Pro Shop.

Unsuspecting Matt Wallace in Epic Prank by Eddie PepperellEveryone loves a good prank, especially when it’s a star in the firing line. Matt Wallace’s rise to the top of the game has been meteoric. Eddie Pepperell wanted to make sure that his friend, the four-time European Tour winner, stays grounded despite all of his recent success.... Starting with an unbearably annoying courtesy car driver, followed by an impossible voice-over session led by a pushy director and ending with an unfortunate accident in a BMW showroom, Pepperell watched everything that happened from a secret location. Would Matt be able to contain his frustration, or would Eddie get the better of him? Callaway Competition WinnerCongratulations to James Ronald from Hamilton Golf Club who was drawn as the lucky winner of our Callaway competition in March. James wins a brand new Odyssey EXO Seven Putter and a dozen Callaway ERC Soft Golf Balls. |
