Hurrah!

Wow! I am thrilled that my podcast A Glass With... is celebrating it's 50th episode today with John Torode and Lisa Faulkner! Listen here.

We talk about  lockdown, Instagram, Pinot Noir, eating fish from a bucket (which is far nicer than it sounds) and getting Bakered. What does that mean? Tune in to find out! You can listen online here or via all the usual podcast outlets from Apple to Spotify and catch up on all previous 49 episodes with this lovely lot!

A Glass With returns with the chance for you to support the podcast for access to bonus material and a host of fantastic new features. We'll be announcing how to get on board next week so watch this space! In the meantime, please leave your reviews and feedback and share the podcast far and wide.

Series 8 begins on Thursday 3rd September, sponsored by Majestic.

VALUE VINO IS BACK!

We’re back! Everyone needs a bit of Value Vino from time to time and these bottles have blown my socks off.

Paul Mas Vinus Malbec 2019 (13.5%) £8.25 Morrisons. Lush and fruity with a pleasing twist - rather like when you bite a blackcurrant or plum and the skin pops with a lifting zing that frames the fruit. Decant this rocking red and your friends and family will think it tastes like twice the price.

Gaillac Perle ‘Evocation’ 2019 £7.99 (mix six) Majestic Fresher than a deep dive into the ozone layer, this easy breezy white is sensational with a gentle spritz.

Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Black’ 2018 Maule Valley (13.5%) £8 on offer Asda. I mean this in a good way: this wine smells like an angry Kola Cube. A total steal at its usual price of £10, but on offer at £8 - go and buy it without hesitating.  It’s huge and powerful yet slips down ludicrously easily. At this price, it’s beyond brilliant.

The Society’s Exhibition Alvarinho Vinho Verde 2019 (13%) £8.95. Hallelujah, sherbet at the seaside, this is has a tropical twist and a sharp appley spritz. Total magic.

LeftField Rosé Hawkes Bay 2019 has 25% off, £11.99 to £8.99 in Waitrose. Dive in! Exotic and fruity, this is bold vibrancy to please a crowd and works a charm with big flavours from smokey meats to spicy curries.

We'll be back with more Value Vinos every week in Hot Bottle - do share this newsletter for your friends to subscribe so they can get the inside track too.

For more wine recommendations, don't forget my column has moved to You Magazine in the Mail on Sunday.  You can read Sunday's full column on Barbecue Bottles here.

And join me this Thursday 3rd September at 6pm live on Instagram for my Desert Island Wines with the Wine Society. Tune in at 6pm @thewinesociety1874 to find out which wines I've chosen to keep me company.

Here's to a splendid September, keep in touch.
