Highlight: 1st Quarterly Cookie Hour


On Tuesday, September 20, start your day with Cookies, Coffee, and OGPS at our 1st Quarterly Cookie Hour!

This casual drop-in event will be held in BioMed Center Room 202 (the Purple Palace) between 8-10 am. Staff from OGPS (BioMed Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies) will be there to greet you, and you'll have the chance to ask questions, share concerns, and tell us what events and resources you’d like to see offered. We will also be raffling off some awesome science-themed prizes! All BioMed graduate students and postdocs are welcome to attend this entirely FREE event.

Don't work in the BioMed Center? Come by anyway, and keep a lookout for subsequent Cookie Hours in December, March, and June in different campus locations. See you next week!

F-Series Fellowship Submission Info Session
Are you planning to submit an NRSA F-Series Fellowship for the upcoming December 8 deadline? Could you use some guidance in preparing your application? Presented by Justine Allen, PhD, Training Grant Manager in OGPS, this session will give a fellowship overview, review program announcement vs. instructions, identify available resources, and go over timelines and administrative contacts. GWiSE's Fall Young Scholars Conference (YSC) starts today! All are invited to the two Keynote talks: Nicole Renaud, PhD (Novartis) presenting a talk on her career path: How the 1920's influenced my career. TODAY, Friday, September 16 at 1 PM in the Crystal Room, Alumnae Hall. Cynthia Reinhart-King, PhD (Cornell University) presenting a research talk: Biomedical Approaches to Disease Intervention: The Mechanobiology of Atherosclerosis and Cancer. Nerd Nite is a monthly meeting of nerds who love to hear about new ideas in a chill environment. Postdoc Opportunity

Postdoctoral Associate - Pathology - Stony Brook University School of Medicine - Stony Brook, NY

The successful candidate for this postdoctoral position in pre-clinical/translational cancer research will work on NIH-funded projects focused on studying the role of the p53 gene family in cancer and development.

PhD/MD degree in cellular/molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry. Solid laboratory experience with cell biological, biochemical and molecular biological techniques, usage of mouse models, and proficiency in viral gene transfer and histological methods. Career Position

Assistant Professor of Biology - Centre College - Danville, KY

Candidates are sought for a tenure-track position to start in August 2017. Candidates should have expertise in comparative anatomy or paleontology, who could teach vertebrate morphology and its associated lab. The successful candidate would also contribute to teaching introductory biology and senior seminar. Other teaching opportunities may include first-year studies courses, natural sciences (for non-science majors), vertebrate physiology and additional classes in the candidate’s area of interest.
