The National Press Foundation's annual awards dinner is next week! The dinner will celebrate the year's most compelling journalism. The award winners are Bob Woodward, Dana Bash, Mindy Marqués Gonzalez, Report for America and journalists from Politico, AP, Kaiser Health News, CQ Roll Call, NPF and the University of Maryland's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism & Capital News Service. Upcoming Training Opportunities
TRAINING: The Latest on Opioids and Addiction
NPF and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) are offering an all-expenses-paid training in Denver on March 31 - April 2. It will address the science of addiction, the latest research on treatment, trends in substance abuse and more. Journalists will go on to cover the ASAM Annual Conference from April 2 -5. The deadline is Tuesday, February 18. Support for this program comes from Arnold Ventures and it is hosted by ASAM. NPF retains sole responsibility for programming and

WEBINAR: The Latest on Autonomous Cars
In this free one-hour webinar, NPF will help journalists understand the latest developments about connected, automated, shared and electric (CASE) technologies. The webinar will go live Wednesday, February 19 at noon. Support for this program was provided by a grant from Honda North America. NPF retains sole responsibility for programming and content.
ONE DAY WORKSHOP: What's Next in Trade
This free one-day workshop on Monday, March 16 in Washington, D.C., will cover trade issues, such as the effects of coronavirus; the impact of tariffs and how the election could affect them; and how to analyze trade-related jobs data. Two Journalism Awards Open
$10,000 Award Prize. This award recognizes exemplary journalism that illuminates and advances understanding of mental health issues and treatments. It was established in memory of Carolyn C. Mattingly, a Maryland philanthropist and activist. It is open to any U.S.-based journalist at a U.S.-based news organization, including print, broadcast and online media. The application deadline is Friday, March 6.

Thomas L. Stokes Award for Energy and Environment
$2,500 Award Prize. The Stokes Award was established to honor the best reporting “in the independent spirit of Tom Stokes," with special emphasis on works about energy, natural resources and the environment. This award is open to all U.S.-based media, in the form of reporting, analysis or commentary. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 6.
Covering The Heart Beat Resources
In January, NPF trained 20 journalists on a range of issues related to cardiac health. Content from the training on “Covering the Heart Beat,” including briefings by a top heart surgeon and the latest data on heart disease, is available on our website, YouTube channel, SoundCloud and Scribd. #NPFHeart
