June 23, 2016 - Texas Flood Recovery: Situation Report #2

Hope Force International [HFI] teams are currently fully engaged in flood remediation endeavors in the blazing heat and high humidity of South Texas; your prayers for their safety, health and stamina are deeply appreciated. We want to thank each one of you who has prayed and/or donated to the recovery efforts in Texas. This desperately needed response could not happen without you!

We are happy to report that a local church has graciously opened their doors to accommodate our team of Hope Force Staff and Reservists. We are focusing our efforts on serving people in and around Angleton, Texas.  Brazoria County suffered the 3rd most catastrophic flood in its history in early June – and this is the third big flood event within three months in South Texas. As a result, many local and statewide resources – as well as manpower help -- are depleted. It is rare for the state of Texas to require outside help to meet the need in any given disaster event – but this flood season is historical and overwhelming.

Floodwaters have taken days to recede, and many roads are just now accessible. The fact that water has been standing in homes for an extended period of time has contributed to the crisis -- wreaking havoc on home and property. The emotional and psychological stress on people is palpable. As we seek to identify the most vulnerable survivors, assessments thus far reveal a rather overwhelming level of need.

"Pastor Rick and his wife Cindy have faithfully ministered with a shepherd's heart to the least, last and lost over the last 30 years. Their home and center of ministry was impacted by a foot of water. We have the privilege of serving them this week."

Your Help Is Needed!!

Looking ahead, we foresee the need for an increase of both human and financial resources to continue the Texas relief effort. Will you please prayerfully consider becoming a compassionate response to those affected by this historic flooding? Will you also pray that we will have adequate numbers of volunteers to sustain the work? Your gift of any amount will help to provide the materials and resources needed to continue this work of compassionate intervention.

With your participation, we have the privilege of serving many -- offering help and hope in the name of Jesus as they confront the great emotional challenges ahead in their journey back to some kind of "normal."

Thanking you in advance for considering a partnership with Hope Force International as we serve our neighbors in Texas who are in great need!
