Ahoy, Me Hearties!

Ahoy, Me Hearties!

Did you know that last Saturday was International "Talk Like a Pirate" Day and that all this week otherwise normal everyday citizens are going around greeting people with ‘ahoy matey’ and the slightly more foreboding ‘ye scurvy lot!’

Wallace and Gromit have been known to partake in some high seas adventures (as you can see in this picture!) and Aardman’s new feature film directed by Peter Lord, due for release in 2012, is entitled: The Pirates! – In An Adventure With Scientists.

Give Piracy the 'Heave-ho'

Give Piracy the 'Heave-ho'

How clever it would be to invent a detecting machine for Wallace and Gromit so they could search the desert islands and high seas for caskets full of pieces of eight and loot filled barrels. What do you think their treasure seeking machine would look like? I wonder how it would be powered? Would it work on water as well as land? These are the type of question you might like to consider when entering the Cracking Ideas competition and tackling what Wallace and Gromit’s next business venture might be.

Of course those stereotypical pirates of old were sometimes a blood thirsty lot and up to plenty of skulduggery, and today’s pirates are still up to no good. Today they don’t deal in gold medallions and bejewelled daggers but they take other people’s ideas and use them to make money themselves. This action of piracy is illegal and we should all strive to give it the ‘heave-ho.’ What a cracking idea that would be!

Well done to Blondi rulz, whose special goodie bag (or should I say booty bag!) is on its way...
