Forget avocado on toast, if you’re looking at somebody to blame as to why you can’t buy a house but a baby boomer can, look no further than the government. New research released today finds various government policies have increased the generational divide in the property market.

Fortunately, there are solutions. Matthew Palm writes that the successful US tax credit housing scheme, which attracts Australian investors, provides a model for the private sector to take a ‘build to rent’ approach to providing more affordable housing.
