David Zwirner Gallery will present a special day-long event of film screenings on Saturday, June 25, the last day of their Donald Judd exhibition, at 519 West 19th Street.  

"Marfa Voices" (2010, 25 minutes), produced by Judd Foundation, is a short documentary film by Rainer Judd and is part of Judd Foundation’s ongoing Oral History Project, which documents interviews with individuals who have unique and invaluable perspectives into Donald Judd’s artistic philosophy and working method.  

Also screening is "The Artist’s Studio: Donald Judd" (2010, 30 minutes), produced and directed by independent filmmaker Michael Blackwood.  It begins in the summer of 1972 when the art historian Barbara Rose interviewed Judd at 101 Spring Street, his home and studio in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.  The film also includes interviews and footage of the artist and his family from September 1975 in Marfa, Texas.  

"Marfa Voices" will screen at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.

The second leg of the exhibition “Donald Judd – A Good Chair is a Good Chair”, is slated to open at Die Neue Sammlung - The International Design Museum Munich on July 15, 2011.  

Jointly organized with Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, England, the exhibition will focus exclusively on Judd’s furniture, including chairs, beds, shelves, desks and tables made from solid wood, metal and plywood. Charting the refinement of Judd’s design and production process, it includes the presentation of prototypes from the 1970's and 1980's.

The exhibition will run through October 9, 2011.
