The Elgar Encyclopedia of Asian Law is the most comprehensive reference work for those interested in Asian legal studies. Organized alphabetically by jurisdiction the Encyclopedia includes the regions of East Asia, South and Southeast Asia.

 

The core areas of public / constitutional, civil, criminal and commercial law are covered for each of the 27 jurisdictions. For those where legal research is more extensive, a broader range of topics is included, such as citizenship and immigration law, environmental law, finance and insolvency law, health law and human rights.

 

Each entry contains an outline of the general legal framework of the area of law, discussion of key features or current debates, and a bibliography of key reference materials.
