GSA Job Postings

GSA Speaker

The Graduate Students' Association (GSA) is seeking applicants for the position of GSA Speaker to serve from October 1, 2015 to April 30, 2015. 

Applications will be accepted by the GSA until the position is filled. 

GSA Administrative Assistant

The Graduate Students' Association (GSA) is seeking applicants for the position of GSA Administrative Assistant to serve from October 1, 2015 to April 30, 2015. 

The deadline to apply is September 24, 2015.

 
 

Student Safety Abroad

All students who plan to travel on university activity are encouraged to complete a Personal Travel Form to be entered in Campus Safety's Student Safety Abroad Registry. Registration for personal travel is optional.

The Student Safety Abroad Policy was approved at the June 12, 2015 Open Session meeting of the Board of Governors of the University of Lethbridge and came into effect September 1, 2015. This policy is available to view online.

Federal Government Post-Secondary Recruitment campaign

It’s that time again—the Federal Government has begun their annual Post-Secondary Recruitment campaign for 2015!  There are a number of specific job opportunities available for students who will be graduating at the end of the year, as well as general subject–based inventories that students can apply for.  

The application deadline for these positions is October 6.  See the SGS website for details.

 
 

Let's Talk Science volunteer opportunities

The University's Let's Talk Science program offers graduate students in the sciences a variety of opportunities to gain experience in science outreach, communication development, management and leadership skills.

Let's Talk Science is once again recruiting volunteers and Dr. Ute Wieden-Kothe will offer a free three-hour volunteer training session on September 29.

 
 

SPOR Methods Hub workshop

Do you have questions about research? Do you need some help on methods or analytics? Are you looking for tools to measure outcomes?

The Methods Hub is here to help. The Methods Hub is a group of dedicated health researchers who have expertise in methodology and will be hosting a workshop Thursday, September 24, from 10 am to 3 pm.

You are encouraged to present some of your research and area of expertise, or suggest additional topics/questions for the agenda. Please RSVP to Dr. Brenda Leung.

The application deadline for the SPOR Graduate Research in Patient-Oriented Research competition is October 1.

Assessment: Marking and Grading workshops

September 29, 4 to 6 p.m., L1102

Graduate students should plan to attend one of these hands-on workshop sessions which will help participants develop skills necessary to effectively deal with marking and grading of student work. Workshop activities address creating and understanding scoring guides and rubrics, and their practical application to samples of student work.

 
 

Human Research Ethics workshops

September 29 from 10 to 11 a.m.;
October 1 from 9 to 10 a.m.;
October 5 from 9 to 10 a.m.; and
October 7 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Participants in each Human Research Ethics workshop session will be encouraged to identify ethical issues in the design, conduct and oversight of research, and to contribute ethically acceptable solutions to these issues.

Animal Research Ethics workshops

September 29 from 1 to 2 p.m.;
October 1 from 2 to 3 p.m.;
October 5 from 2 to 3 p.m.; and
October 7 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Participants in each Animal Research Ethics workshop session will be given a brief overview of the Canadian Council on Animal Care, and its role in oversight of the ethical use and care of animal in science throughout Canada. Participants will also be introduced to the internationally accepted tenet of the Three Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) that guides those using animals for scientific purposes.

Canada Gairdner Symposium: "New Horizons in RNA Research"

The Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute (AARTI) presents this symposium with keynote speaker Dr. Lynne Maquat, Director of the Centre for RNA Biology at the University of Rochester and recipient of the 2015 Canada Gairdner International Award.
