Christchurch Northern Corridor Walk and Ride DayThe Christchurch Northern Corridor motorway is nearly open, and we’d love you to join us for a closer look! Come along for a day of festivities on from 2pm to 6pm Saturday 12 December. Enjoy a casual stroll along the new shared-use paths or a leisurely bike ride along the motorway. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity before the lanes are opened to traffic. There’ll be plenty of fun activities including a bouncy castle, as well coffee, ice cream, and sausage sizzles. Plus, learn all about the T2 lanes, direct buses, and Park & Ride facilities coming in January. Penguins pop up at local schoolsThree little Pop Up Penguins have waddled into Papanui Library. Designed and painted by local schools, the penguins are now on display. They are part of the Wild in Art Pop Up Penguins sculpture trail which celebrates unique parts of Christchurch while highlighting climate change, community, Antarctica, creativity, innovation and exploration. The Council – through the Enliven Places programme as community sponsor – has enabled four communities – Hoon Hay, Shirley, Phillipstown and Little River – to take part in the event.
