Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the Septmber 2017 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate.

Below find a few key points provided by our Chief Economist, Michael Uhrich:

  • U.S. domestic beer shipment volume was down 4.9% in September 2017 with one fewer selling day compared to September 2016.
  • After adjusting for the lost selling day, which was the Thursday before Labor Day, domestic shipments volume was down 0.4%.
  • Additionally, while September 2016 was among the hottest Septembers on record, temperatures were generally milder this year, particularly in the Southeast. The cooler temperatures contributed significantly to September’s declines in domestic shipment volume.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael at either 202-737-2337 or muhrich@beerinstitute.org.

Cheers,
