LISC Marks 20 Years of Revitalizing Neighborhoods

This November, LISC San Diego will kick-off its 20th year of helping improve local communities and making a difference in the lives of families. Over the past two decades LISC and its affiliates have invested nearly $186.6 million in equity, grants and loans to support and rebuild communities throughout San Diego County. Leveraged by more than $778 million, these investments have contributed to the development of 5,438 multi-family and single-family homes and 919,504 square feet of commercial and community facilities.

Financial Opportunity Centers Plan Open House

A virtual open house featuring videos of each of the LISC-sponsored Financial Opportunity Centers (FOCs) from around the county will be held October 28th, Noon-1pm at the Jacobs Center (404 Euclid Avenue San Diego, CA 92114) where the Homestart FOC is located. FOCs are designed to help low and moderate income families acheive financial stability. Locally, LISC was instrumental in securing more than $500,000 in grants from the Social Innovation Fund needed to operate these vital centers.

San Pasqual Academy Gets New Football Field

Airial shot of San Pasqual Academy's new field

The latest in a string of synthetic football fields developed with support from LISC was dedicated September 26th at San Pasqual Academy, a one-of-a-kind school built especially for foster youths. What was dubbed the "FIeld of Hope," became reality thanks to the NFL Grassroots Program, a partnership between LISC and the National Football League Youth Football Fund, which provides neighborhood-based organizations with financial assistance to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local football fields.  County Supervisor Ron Roberts, the Quentin Jammer Foundation and Charger's own Philip Rivers "River of Hope" foundation were also instrumental in bringing the field to fruition.

LISC is proud to recognize one of our top corporate sponsors- JP Morgan Chase. Myeisha Peguero Gamino VP, Community Affairs Relationship Manager and Regional Director of Operations serves on LISC's Local Advisory Committee. JP Morgan Chase has evolved into one of the World's largest and most influential global financial institutions. Its philanthropic goal is to be a catalyst for meaningful, positive and sustainable change within highest need neighborhoods and communities. In 2010, JP Morgan Chase and its foundation gave more than $150 million through grants and sponsorships to thousands of non-for-profit organizations across 28 domestic markets and more than 25 countries abroad. The JP Morgan Chase Foundation directs the majority of its time, attention and investment toward specific neighborhoods in cities where Chase has major operations. These neighborhoods are often among the most challenged areas of major urban centers, defined by unacceptably high rates of poverty and historic disinvestment. JP Morgan Chase works to lead a renaissance in neighborhoods, by engaging the most qualified non-profit organizations such as LISC, neighborhood residents, and other sources of public and private advocacy and funding.
