CAPSTONE The Newsletter of the CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership

CQL is all about partnership ...

A Word from Cathy Ficker Terrill, President and CEO

In just over three months in my role with CQL as President and CEO one thing stands out – CQL fosters partnerships. Service providers, State agencies, national and international organizations partner with us to provide training, certification and Person-centered Excellence Accreditation. We all have the same passion and dedication for people living lives of their own and that services and supports are person-centered and based on quality.

In this issue of the Capstone, we highlight a few partnerships that exemplify quality and person-centered services and supports.

Community Living Services in Fargo, North Dakota,is a CQL-accredited organization that partners with CQL and partners with other community organizations to improve cultural competence.  I encourage you to read their story and what they are doing to continually improve the quality of their person-centered services.

CQL is partnered with the Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI) in North Carolina. DDTI has provided training to support capacity for greater understanding of the measures, consistency and quality in training, teaching and mentoring for reliability in the Personal Outcome Measures®.

We are pleased to announce that through our partnership with Maryland Nonprofits, CQL has once again been awarded the Standards of Excellence seal. Read more about what this means for CQL and our commitment to excellence.

We also welcome two new staff members. Kerri Melda is our new Vice President of Research and Product Development. Kerri will help us move forward with data analysis, policy briefs, technology and research and she will bring added value to our customers. Also joining our staff is Jen Sundem . She will be the first point of contact for CQL Person-centered Accreditation and will be responsible for quality customer service.

Finally, we continue to present at and attend meetings of organizations both in the US and internationally. We are working collaboratively with the Center for Excellence in Assisted Living, the Consumer Consortium for Advancing Person-centered Living, the National Quality Forum, the Association of University Centers on Disability, the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities as well as well as our member organizations ANCOR, AAIDD, Autism Society of American and United Cerebral Palsy. We believe that nurturing relationships and collaboration are integral to our pursuit of our vision of quality and excellence.
