The Town is bringing Garage Sale Trail to the local area on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October. Join over 350,000 sellers and shoppers as over two million items are set free from cupboards, garages and sheds across the nation. For sellers, it’s a free, fun and social way to de-clutter, find a home for your pre-loved stuff, meet local people and make some pocket money. Sellers can sell on one or both days. For shoppers, it’s a great way to grab a bargain, find something unique and shop sustainably. Garage Sale Trail is an initiative run by Garage Sale Trail Foundation in partnership with over 150 local councils nationally. Registrations are open now. For more information head to the website. You are not alone. Our Healthy Community nutritionist will teach you a range of alternatives to manage your emotions in a healthy way without food. IGA laneway upgradeThe Town is on a mission to upgrade some of our public areas to The first cab off the rank is the upgrade of the laneway between East Victoria Park IGA and Ten Ten Kitchen. The IGA Laneway Upgrade Project proposes to close the laneway to vehicle traffic and transform it into a pedestrian-friendly space able to host events and activities. We want you to tell us how you might use the space and what type of things you would like to see there. Join us for a pop-up event in the laneway: Sunday 2 September Bring the kids - we will have a petting zoo! Children's Book WeekThe library will be celebrating Children’s Book Week from 13–24 August. Children’s Book Week is an annual event held throughout Australia to promote children’s enjoyment of reading. During this week an exciting program of events is planned with authors and illustrators visiting the library to entertain classes from local schools. Past experience has shown that the library is a bit noisier than usual during this week.
