iStart New Zealand

Hi there,

Tomorrow, New Zealanders and Australians will stand side by side – figuratively, if not literally – as we commemorate our servicemen and women, many of whom experienced unimaginable horrors on battlefields far from home, and returned to a changed world.

Of the many things I’ve read this week about Anzac Day and Covid, the words of RSL Victoria State president Robert Webster stand out. In words which apply as much to Kiwis as Australians he said as we face continued uncertainty due to Covid, it is important to reflect that everyone bears the qualities of Anzac – courage, ingenuity, humour, endurance and mateship –within themselves.

It’s that spirit and the qualities of Anzac that will help guide both countries out of the difficult times that lie ahead. Conversation this week between the PMs on restarting trans-Tasman travel is an encouraging example of how that spirit might play out.

Lest we forget.

In this week’s news:

  • Lockdown loosens e-commerce purse strings
  • Delivering hospitality the key to survival
  • Hack the Crisis serves up digital innovations
  • Google, Facebook content crackdown steps up
  • Mary Meeker’s Covid trends
  • Anzac Day's virtual challenge

Enjoy the read and remain safe,
