To help protect vulnerable native wildlife and their habitats, it is proposed to declare Wildlife Protection Areas in three high conservation bushland corridors. You can have your say on the proposal to declare Wildlife Protection Areas at Field of Mars Reserve, Terrys Creek corridor and Kittys Creek corridor. Consultation closes on Tuesday 18 June 2019. Electric Fleet VehiclesThe City of Ryde continues to take steps to reduce its carbon footprint with plans to purchase electric vehicles as part of Council's fleet. The plans are outlined in the Draft 2019-2023 Four Year Delivery Program and also include the purchase of three electric charging stations, which are in addition to the two slated for the new Rowe Street car park in Eastwood. City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Jerome Laxale, said the move to purchase the electric vehicles comes as Council recently acknowledged that there is a state of climate emergency which required urgent action by all levels of government. "The purchase of the electric vehicles will support other policies. This includes... divesting from fossil-fuel aligned institutions and investigating how to reach a renewable energy target of up to 60 per cent by 2030,” Clr Laxale said. "I would like to thank Clr Christopher Gordon for proposing the purchase of the electric vehicles, charging stations, and for being a leading voice on Council in our efforts to reduce carbon emissions." 2019 Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize | Now OpenBack for its ninth year, the City of Ryde's annual Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize (SWAP) is a chance to express your creativity through reimagining the artistic potential of rubblish and recycled materials.
