Make Your Voice Heard: Join Us at the APA VOICE City Council District 1 Candidate Forum on May 24th

This year, New Yorkers have an important opportunity to elect City Council members who represent the district, monitor City agencies, and fund community services. Primary elections are quickly approaching on June 27th and now is the perfect time for the Chinatown and Lower East Side communities to make your voice heard and learn more about the candidates running to represent you.

We are excited to invite you to the City Council District 1 Candidate Forum for Chinatown and the Lower East Side on Wednesday, May 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Educational Alliances’ Manny Cantor Center located at 197 E Broadway, New York, NY 10002. This forum is a critical opportunity to hear from the candidates on the issues that affect our community, including their plans to address proposed City budget cuts, lack of affordable housing, and public safety. Audience members also have the opportunity to submit their own questions for the candidates. Simultaneous translation in Cantonese and Mandarin will be provided for our audience.

CPC is organizing this event in partnership with Asian Pacific Americans Voting & Organizing to Increase Civic Engagement (APA VOICE), a non-partisan civic engagement coalition representing community organizations in New York City that seeks to empower the Asian Pacific American community to build a just and inclusive society for all.

We hope that you will all join us to invest in our community’s civic power and hear from the candidates running to represent District 1. Please email Caroline Scown at cscown@cpc-nyc.org with any questions or concerns.
