Click here JANUARY 2020 The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has enjoyed much growth and wonderful accomplishments toward MCW’s Clinical, Education, Community, Global Health and Research missions in calendar year 2019, and we can all look forward to further growth in 2020! This Newsletter will help our team document our successions on a monthly basis so we can celebrate next December with a retrospective look at the first year of a new decade in PM&R. Next month, we will highlight PM&R’s Zablocki VA Team led by Dr. Ken Lee and their dedication to our country’s veterans. In the next week, Andi will send out a calendar to each leader of our various inpatient and clinic sites. She will ask that you provide a summary of your clinic/inpatient unit, the services offered, highlights, pictures, an introduction of the PM&R faculty and staff that serve each site, and any other successes you wish to share with the Department in the month assigned to you. While one area of PM&R will be highlighted each month, please continue to submit information or updates, awards, publications (with a link to the publication), and pictures to Andi Christl to include in each month’s Newsletter. Best wishes to all for a wonderful 2020 both personally and professionally – may all your resolutions come true! Congratulations to Dr. Lee! He has been nominated and selected to be honored as the 2020 Champion of Veterans' Health. John Polk, Adjutant and Dr. Braza responded to the call for nominations for physicians to be recognized as a Champion of Veterans' Health by nominating him. The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation selected Dr. Lee because of his dedication to providing adaptive sports opportunities for veterans and his personal insight into the difficulties service men and women face in their rehabilitation journey. In addition to his responsibilities in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit, he is a tireless champion for veterans' health beyond the clinic. In addition to the award, a $1,000 donation will be made to the nonprofit organization of his choice.
