Free to do: Millersburg Candlelight Church Walk
On Friday, December 13, 6 - 8 p.m., Historic Downtown Millersburg is hosting a special opportunity to explore the churches of Millersburg during a self-guided candlelight walk. Enjoy the seasonal decorations, wonderful architecture and historic significance of these majestic structures.
The five churches on the walk are
Millersburg Christian Church, 125 N. Clay St.
First Presbyterian Church, 90 S. Clay St.
Faith Lutheran Church, 187 S. Clay St.
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 379 S. Crawford St.
Millersburg Mennonite Church, 288 E. Jackson St.
Begin your free tour at any of the churches. Maps are available at each church. Finish your tour at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where the West Holmes Chamber Choir and Debra Lehr will be giving at concert at 8:15.

Free to do: Journey to Bethlehem in Walnut Creek
In its fourth year, the Journey to Bethlehem is a self-guided tour that features live actors portraying scenes that represent the search for the Christ child. This year’s Journey to Bethlehem takes place December 6 and 7, 4 - 8 p.m.
To begin the free tour, begin at the Wallhouse Hotel at 2870 Cove Lane in Walnut Creek. There you can register and receive a map for the other destinations.

Recipe: Gingerbread Teddy Bear Cookies
This recipe, from Walnut Creek Cheese, is a great activity for kids to have fun with. Who doesn’t love decorating gingerbread teddy bears?
Ingredients:
1 cup - butter, cubed
2/3 cup - molasses
2/3 cup - packed brown sugar
1 - egg, beaten
1 1/2 t - vanilla
4 cups - all-purpose flour
1/2 t - cinnamon
1 t - ginger
3/4 t - soda
1/2 t - cloves
mini chocolate chips
red decorating frosting
Instructions:
In a small saucepan combine butter, molasses and sugar. Heat until dissolved. Cool in bowl for 10 minutes. Add egg and vanilla. Add combined mix of flour, cinnamon, ginger, soda and cloves gradually. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or overnight. Shape into 8 - 2" balls, 8 - 1" balls, 32 - 1/2" balls and 16 - 3/8” balls. On 3 foil-lined sheets place 2" balls for bear bodies; flatten to 1/2" thickness. Attach 1" balls for heads; flatten to 1/2" thickness. Attach 4 - 1/2" balls for arms and legs, 2 - 3/8" balls for ears, and mini chocolate chips for eyes, nose and buttons. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until set. Cool 10 minutes before gently removing to racks to cool completely. Use frosting to paint on scarves or other decorations. Yield: 8 cookies.

Free to do: Biblewalk Open House
During the week of Christmas Biblewalk—a museum that tells biblical stories with life-sized wax figures—has a special gift for visitors. For the entire week, starting Sunday, December 22, all of the tours may be taken for free. The museum will be closed on Christmas day.
Biblewalk has four tours in its museum: The Life of Christ, Miracle of the Old Testament, Museum of Christian Martyrs and Heart of the Reformation.
