University of Lethbridge chooses new food vendor for its Lethbridge campus

The University of Lethbridge has reached an agreement with ARAMARK to provide onsite food services on its Lethbridge campus. The decision to choose ARAMARK as the U of L’s food provider was, after a long and inclusive process, finalized at last Thursday's  Board of Governors meeting.

The U of L’s 10-year agreement with ARAMARK commences on May 1, 2013.

The process in choosing a new food vendor included many campus constituency groups, the most critical being students. Students were surveyed, invited to participate in discussion groups and included as members of the final selection committee. Get the full story here.

Friesen eyes international pageant as opportunity

Inline Image

Becky Friesen isn’t afraid to try new things – or look for interesting opportunities to stretch her personal and work experiences.

Whether she works with rats, shovels wild animal manure or starts modelling just for the sake of fun, she usually winds up doing something interesting – such as entering the Miss World Canada (MWC) pageant.

The 20-year-old biological sciences student and enthusiastic Lethbridge booster freely acknowledges that parading around in an evening gown, on a runway, is about as far as you could possibly get from her work experiences at the University of Lethbridge’s Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience or her recent Co-operative Education placement at a wildlife conservation facility in Langley B.C. Anyone who knows her shouldn’t be surprised. Read more here

U of L Portal Project Aims to Centralize and Improve Your Online Life: Focus groups take place this week

The cross-campus team working on a new ‘one-stop-shop’ portal system to unify the university's online systems is seeking input from the University community.

The group has been working with a service provider to install a common portal that brings a number of different online systems together.

The group is now looking to the U of L community -- staff, faculty and students -- to further explain what the portal system will be able to do, and also to ask for input on their particular needs.

The as-yet-unnamed portal system can be customized to reflect their needs as an employee or student.

In addition to general U of L information, the portal system will feature a ‘single sign on’ process, so that users don’t have to re-login between systems such as Moodle, The Bridge, Banner, etc.

A few spots may still be available for students and employees.  Please email kim.brigitzer@uleth.ca if you are interested.
