Repair, rebuild, recover: Restoring hope in post-Sandy NYC
One year after Hurricane Sandy ripped through New York City, LISC is leading a $45 million recovery effort there that includes mold remediation, single-family home repairs and multifamily lending to restore apartments, co-ops and condos. "We've been on the ground in these neighborhoods for 30 years," says Denise Scott, LISC NYC executive director, of the focus on low- and moderate-income communities that were shredded by Sandy's fury. "We understand the challenges they faced even before the storm. And we know how to help get the job done now."

LISC NYC deploys Sandy recovery funds in Hurricane ravaged communities
Immediately following the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, LISC NYC created an Emergency Relief Fund to enable community-based organizations in storm devastated neighborhoods to hire the staff and access the tools they need to help residents get back on their feet.
