We’re Coming Your Way

We’ll be scheduling a visit with each SJVHF grantee organization this summer. You should hear from Administrative Assistant MyShawn Cooke to set up a day and time. Please e-mail Kaying Hang with any questions.

Feedback on Learning Community

As mentioned at the Grantee Convening, we are committed to creating a space for regional collaboration and coordination. Please send your suggestions for how we might structure a grantee learning community to Kaying Hang.

We’re Hiring!

We’re accepting applications for a Program Officer to manage the San Joaquin Valley Health Fund from our Merced office, as well as a Program Associate to work in Sacramento. See job descriptions and application instructions on Sierra Health Foundation’s Employment web page.

Round Two Funding Opportunity

The SJVHF Round Two funding opportunity is scheduled to be released in October. We will announce it in this newsletter and on the SJVHF web page.

Stockton Named All-America City

Congratulations to the city of Stockton for being recognized as an All-America City by the National Civic League! A 38-member delegation represented the city at the awards event in Denver last month. Read the article in the Record.

Updates from Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability

The California Legislature passed Gov. Brown’s Drought Consolidation Budget Trailer bill and moved closer to granting the State Water Board authority to mandate drinking water system consolidations as a means of securing safe and affordable drinking water in disadvantaged communities.

Fresno residents recently scored two major victories through budget negotiations at City Hall. In response to community efforts and calls to action, the City Council voted unanimously to allocate $450,000 in the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget to fund an update to the City's 1989 Parks Master Plan and $100,000 to conduct an Industrial Compatibility Assessment in Fresno’s residential neighborhoods.
