Click here Date: March 6th, 2020 The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is excited to announce that on February 27th the City Council unanimously approved our land use application to build our new home at 50 Norfolk Street in the Lower East Side. For 55 years, CPC has been promoting the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant and low-income communities in New York. Working with the Gotham Organization, our mixed use development project will continue to advance our community by creating the following community benefits:
This project was made possible with the support from the 60,000 community members we serve every year. Over the course of the land use application process, over 3,000 postcards, letters, testimonies, and petition signatures were submitted to the City Council in support of our new home. Hundreds of community members and partner organizations also attended hearings with Community Board 3, the City Planning Commission, and the City Council. We look forward to opening our new community center and affordable housing project where we will continue to empower New Yorkers to become agents of positive change in their own lives and in their own communities. CPC is the trusted partner to more than 60,000 individuals and families striving to achieve goals in their education, family, community, and career. With CPC's new community center, our organization will be able to expand our existing services to advance and transform our communities in Lower Manhattan.
