They have remained active in clinic and their inpatient consult service at Children’s Wisconsin’s main campus as well as serving children closer to their homes at the Kenosha, New Berlin and Fox Valley clinics. Dr. Stacy Stibb has been collaborating with the Pediatric Pain Management team to help develop a pediatric pain day rehab program that will help children with functional neurological disorders as well as other diagnoses. She’s also working to develop a multidisciplinary TBI clinic. The team is proud to announce that the 2019 results for patient and family experience for specialists at Children’s Wisconsin came in and the Peds Rehab was #1!! That means that they scored the highest on average from January 2019 thru December 2019 on monthly experience reports from their clinic patients. Since March, the team, like everyone else, has adjusted to quarantine, zoom meetings and virtual visits. A little laughter has helped get through it. "Prizes for Bravery": Many of our patients have procedures in clinic including Baclofen pump refills and Botox injections. We rely on donors to supply them with prizes for bravery. And the winner of the Pediatric Rehab Ugly sweater contest goes to ... Stacy Stibb! Dr. Kim Zvara and Dr. Karin Goodfriend have remained active in the Tour de Force Program. They displayed a pair of painted ballet shoes in clinic this past fall to celebrate the official opening of the Milwaukee Ballet's new space - The Baumgartner Center for Dance. This is the new home to Tour de Force, the ballet program for children with special needs that pairs students with a professional ballet dancer and physical or occupational therapist. The program is on its 6th year. The team had a day of team building last fall that included a visit to Game Show Battle Rooms! But it wasn't all fun and games; we learned how to have crucial conversations too! Nurse practitioners Julia Fishler and Hannah Belknap are the team's “go to” providers when it comes to all things Baclofen pump related. Julia spoke at Best Practices in Pediatrics in March on the topic of Spasticity management with Intrathecal Baclofen pumps. She did great! Julia and Hannah also attended an international pediatric pump conference (virtually) in April and are now working on better tracking these patients and their refill dates in Epic. Welcome Dr. Nick Wilcox as the Spasticity and Neurorehabilitation Fellow!Dr. Wilcox obtained his BS in Environmental Studies at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, and his doctor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. He enjoys fishing and digital photography. “My experiences have cultivated a passion for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pathologies that make PM&R an obvious career choice. They have also enhanced my desire to be a positive influence in the medical community beyond the clinical setting. I look forward to building on this foundation as I move into residency and beyond.” Welcome Dr. Erin Beddows as a Faculty Member!Erin grew up in Lowell, Michigan. She completed her Bachelor of Science at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL, before moving to Freiburg, Germany. There she worked for two years as a research assistant at the University of Freiburg for the neurosciences department. She completed her MD at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and her internship and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is very excited to join the MCW faculty and continue to serve the people of Southeast Wisconsin. AJPMR Farewell Dr. WuDr. Wu did her PM&R residency training from the year 2000 to 2003, followed by Pain fellowship training from 2003-2004 at Anesthesiology. Then she joined the faculty position with dual appointments in departments of PM&R and Anesthesiology. In these 16 years, she has greatly enjoyed teaching students, conducting clinical research and, of course, practicing patient care. But what makes her time at MCW the most memorable are the irreplaceable friendships and memories that she has made with colleagues and staff. From the bottom of her heart, she says thank you to all for making MCW, my family and second home. Moving forward, she will join Rush University Medical Center, and serve as Director at Rush Oak Brook Spine Center. Have news to share with your PM&R colleagues? We would love to hear from you for our next issue, so please email any recent publications, awards, presentations, shout-outs, etc. to Beatriz Envila at benvila@mcw.edu.
