Darlings!

Blasting into the heart of 2017 with boosters on full-booze, there are a billion brilliant reasons to be joyful.

First and most importantly, I saw my first Firecrests in the forest the other day. Like me in full summer bloom, they have neon hair.

Next, A Glass With... launches on 23 March 2017, and you can be the first to know about it!

Right now, there is a crack team of webbits (somewhere between a web-designer and a hobbit) beavering away to get everything ready. Our social media channels are up and running, AGlassWith.com still has that lovely new scent of digital varnish, and we love the big green logo designed for us by the heroic humans at Liquid Studio. The webbits are almost litter trained.

For the moment, we're keeping tight-lipped about what to expect - but over the next few weeks we will be dropping some hints, so keep your eyes glued to the web.

In fact, there are already a few clues out there - such as this one, where you can try to guess who I'm having a glass with. I thought it was Noel Edmonds, apparently it could be Pierce Brosnan. Or neither. In my defence I had enjoyed a scurrilous few glasses of rather excellent vino.

Pub in the Park is coming! I’ll be riding my sky-bottle to Marlow 19-21st May to join Tom Kerridge, Candice Brown and a host of chefs and bands including Tom Odell, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Fun Lovin' Criminals to roar from the rafters in a festival that promises to be as bulging as it is beautiful. Let’s find out together exactly what that means! Come join the fun.

I learned to fly in an Aston Martin DB11 - find out about the landing with no crash here.

Ideal Home Show Spring is upon us - I’ll be joining its brand new Eat & Drink Festival at London Olympia 24, 25, 28 & 30th March. If you spot me come say hi!

I couldn’t possibly announce that there will be a second series of Ale Trails but you can catch up on the delights of series 1 on Travel Channel from 6th March. Come surf the USA's beer frontier with me!

Three Wine Men are back! We’ve dusted Oz down after his dalliance with destiny (apparently he’s taken up sky-diving, strictly a rumour) and Tim has the globe in his fist and is gently squeezing it to find the best wine out there. I’ll be with my two best buds cackling like a wild hyena that’s found a buried stash of old bone wine at Let’s Get Fizzical on 7th June. We’ll have the world’s best sparkling wines including a fair few English dazzlers so come and sip for Britain!

Saturday Kitchen roars onward, delighted that the production team led by Amanda Ross have secured three more years at the helm. I’ll be popping up on 4th March - expect fireworks, or at least some wine and my relentless enthusiasm for finding top quality at a fair price.

And finally here are some Hot Bottles for the first shoots of Spring.

BARGAIN: Asda Extra Special Nero D’Avola 2015 (14%) £5. Great value simple tangy red ripened to glory by Sicilian sunshine.

FIZZ: Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Prosecco (10.5%) £8. On offer, what a belter to stock up for the first Spring day perched in the garden to pair with Mozzarella.

WHITE: Lyrarakis ‘voila’ Assyrtiko 2016 (13.5%) from £9.99 Majestic.  Dive in quick, this is razor fresh white, if you enjoy crisp classy whites such as Chablis, fill yer boots with this Cretan cracker.

PANCAKE DAY: Klein Constantia, Vin de Constance 2013 (50cl, 13.5%) £45 The Wine Society. A massive treat and one of the world’s very best sweet wines, Yes it’s a splash but winemaker Matt Day has created a sweet symphony from South Africa - a masterpiece, in fact.

You beauties, get out in the first rays of sunshine and enjoy yourselves. My bees are flying, there’s a world out there to explore so let’s spread a bit of joy and bring the honey back home.

Love always,

Olly x
