GNWT Launches Two New Support Programs for Tourism and Accommodations
Dear members,
Today Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Caroline Wawzonek announced two new support programs for licensed tourism operators and licensed accommodation providers across the NWT. This is positive news, and we encourage all members to access these new supports if possible.
PREP Program
The Pandemic Relief Extension Program (PREP) is for tourism operators and will assist licensed tourism operators with eligible fixed costs within the NWT at a minimum of $2,500 (to a maximum of $100,000). Home-based tourism businesses will also be able to access this relief funding. You can find more information by clicking on this link.
STAR Program
The Supplement for Tourism Accommodation Relief (STAR) Program is for accommodation providers who meet the criteria and will provide financial assistance for eligible expenses in facilities with three or more rooms. You can find out more information including eligibility criteria by clicking on this link.

NWT Tourism notes that both Yukon and Nunavut have announced their reopening plans, lifting the need to isolate for anyone fully vaccinated. We look forward to an update of the GNWTs Emerging Wisely plan from the Chief Public Health Officer, that is slated for this Wednesday.
