Tour, workshops and more at the CIF Spring Events: June 3 & 4

Join us for our semi-annual Ontario Recycler Workshop (ORW). Come and learn about project results, operational impacts of policy changes and ideas to strengthen your recycling program. The ORW will be held on Thursday, June 4 at the Blue Mountain Resort in The Blue Mountains. 

“Hands on” workshops organized for the day before (Wednesday, June 3rd) include a Promotion and Education (P&E) Working Session & Depot Operations Roundtable discussion. Attendees will be eligible to obtain credits (CEUs) for the Best Practices Objective of the Datacall for attending the workshop/training events. Simcoe County staff have also agreed to offer tours of the landfill to demonstrate new features and systems in use at the site.

P&E Working Session: Strengthen Your Next Campaign

Many projects that receive support through the annual REOI require P&E for effective implementation; others may be applications for specific P&E campaign funding support. CIF staff and a communications expert will help attendees develop P&E components of their REOI applications.

Priority will be given to individuals who have applied to the CIF 2015 REOI to launch a campaign or a project with a P&E component. Other municipal participants are welcome, pending space availability.

Roundtable: Discussion on Best Practices

Simcoe County
Landfill Site Tour

470 10th Line, Collingwood

Simcoe County has upgraded its Collingwood landfill site, adding many new features and facilities that increase efficiency of its diversion and landfill operations, increase health and safety and overall satisfaction for residents and staff.

With nearly 70% of the waste dropped off at County waste facilities being diverted there’s lots to see at this site.

Simcoe County staff welcome ORW participants for a tour late in the day on Wednesday as you make your way up to the ORW or to follow a day of workshops at the resort.

Accommodations

The CIF has reserved a small block of guest rooms for Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3 at a special rate of $183.26/night including HST and ‘village amenity fee’.
