Are you open to locals for the 2020 summer season?  We'd like to help you promote your Northern Staycation!

Dear members,

If your business is open to local residents this summer, we are here to help you get the word out. NWT Tourism is negotiating ad space in a number of publications so that we can support your efforts to market to residents of the Northwest Territories.

With borders closed and inter-regional travel not suggested, the first phase of recovery for the tourism industry is focused on residents being tourists in their own communities. NWT Tourism is here to support the industry through every step of the recovery. Here's what we are offering in this first phase.

NWT Tourism is making opportunities available in the following outlets at no cost to you

  • Operator listing on Northernstaycations.ca
  • Northern News Services ads placed in the Yellowknifer, News North, Hay River Hub and Inuvik Drum
  • Cabin Radio Advertorial
  • Cabin Radio Display ads
  • Moose FM Radio ads
  • Social Media: we will use the NWT Tourism social channels to communicate directly with our followers within the NWT

* More opportunities will be added throughout the summer months. We will keep you informed of these as they become available.

What is required from you:

  • You must have gone through the Protect North approval for your business to operate in order to participate. See the Emerging Wisely document for details.
  • This offer is an exclusive opportunity for licensed businesses who are members of NWT Tourism
  • The offers are available on a first come, first served basis. If you will be open and want to participate, please contact us as soon as possible.

We are open to your suggestions:

To take advantage of these immediate opportunities, or to provide suggestions about other ways we can connect your business to potential clients through marketing channels within the NWT, please get in touch with us right away.

Please contact Robin Williams at: robin@spectacularnwt.com

When new opportunities arise, we will be in touch with you again.

Looking at the Long Term
While our focus with this Northern Staycation marketing initiative is aimed at supporting the recovery of the tourism industry locally because border closures limit tourism activities to NWT Residents, please be reassured that NWT Tourism's marketing team continues to keep our destination alive in the dreams of those who will visit us again in the future, when our territory reopens to visitors.
