Virtual Creative Arts Showcase

The CHS Community is invited to celebrate the work of Senior School students in the Arts and Applied Design, Skills & Technology department at the Virtual Creative Arts Showcase (password: falcons). It looks a little different this year as students finished projects remotely; however, you can still enjoy samples of work by students in Foods, Textiles, Fine Art, Music, ICT, Drama, Film and Entrepreneurship classes, as well as projects from the Design Lab. Please drop in and wander through virtual galleries, view films, watch performances and enjoy the wonderful creative output of our students!

Backpack Drive — Thank You CHS Families!

The CHS Parents’ Auxiliary would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in this year’s online Backpack Drive. The amazing generosity of the CHS community has allowed us to sponsor 374 backpacks — far exceeding our goal of 250. We are blown away. Thank you also goes to those who volunteered their time to organize this event, hastily adapting to the current situation and finding new ways to make sure students in our local community start out the school year properly. Thank you!

Year-End (At Home) BBQ – You’re Invited!

The entire school community is invited to fire up the barbecue, enjoy a cold drink on the patio, and celebrate the end of the school year by joining our Year-End (At-Home) BBQ. We can’t be together, but we hope everyone can join together virtually by cooking their own recipes or enjoying the delicious recipes kindly provided by Chef Harley and the SAGE team. Submit photos or videos by June 12 to communications@croftonhouse.ca or tag @Crofton_House so the team can collect the images and share them. Join in on the fun and don’t forget to use the #CHSBBQATHOME tag.

ECE and Junior School students brought some energy back to the Crofton House School campus this week, excited to see friends and teachers.

Senior School students showed their school spirit during Spirit Week with several themed days: Dress Up for Class, Crazy Hair, House Colours & Pyjama Day.

Junior School students showed their creative flair, taking part in an art design challenge. Students created clothing using paper products they had at home including tissue paper, wrapping paper, construction paper and newspaper with some impressive final results.

Social Science 8 students held their annual Feudal Fair, dressing up and using a virtual background to create the scene. Students gave speeches to royal guests played by teachers.

Grade 12 students participated in a socially-distanced version of the traditional grad shirt-signing, creating a memento of their days at Crofton House.

Inspired by street art from around Vancouver, Grade 6 and 7 students created works of art and digitally superimposed them on walls and buildings to create their very own public murals.

Dear Parents & Guardians,

The Welcome-Back BBQ at the beginning of the school year saw our campus flooded with students and families excited to be back together and eager to share their excitement for the year ahead. From the Whole Girl, Whole World speaker series, to the incredible Winter Bazaar and Mother-Daughter Dance, and many more grade and school-wide events, this excitement didn’t fade.

Although we never could have anticipated that the year would end with each of us celebrating the Year-End BBQ physically separated from one another, I am inspired by the overwhelming desire our community has to stay connected. Whether its class parents bringing grades together for a special zoom celebration, or a record number of backpacks sponsored for local children, it is clear that the strength of our community is unbending. Looking ahead, some of the ways in which we come together may need to be re-imagined, but the sentiment will remain the same - CHS is not only a community for your daughter, it’s a community for you. We are in this together.

Whether you volunteered for an hour, a day, or chaired one of our signature events, thank you for the generous donation of your time during this past year, you have truly enriched our community, and hopefully made some new friends along the way. A special thank you to our CHS PA Board members whose dedication and passion to enrich our community is endless.
