The State of Youth Justice 2015: report published
"The youth justice system in 2015 is substantially smaller than it was a few years ago. Since 2008, there has been a sharp fall in the number of children receiving a formal youth justice sanction; a decrease that is explained, in large part, by a reduction in the number of children who enter the criminal justice system for the first time – so called first time entrants."
"Over the same period, there has been an equally dramatic decline in the use of imprisonment for children, generating a corresponding contraction in the population of the secure estate for children and young people."

Ten Pieces Secondary began in October 2015 with free screenings of a brand new cinematic film. Featuring stunning footage of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra performing a new selection of orchestral music, the film represents a wide range of styles and eras relevant to the Key Stage 3/3rd Level Music Curriculum.
Each piece is introduced by celebrity presenters known to the age group, using an engaging mix of live action and animation. The film is designed to act as an exciting gateway to orchestral music, stimulating the audience to respond creatively to the repertoire.

“Money’s nice, but connections and conversations are better,” says Julia Negus, co-founder of Shopfront theatre, which is in an old fish and chip shop in City Arcade, Coventry. “We all know that theatre can happen everywhere, but Shopfront made us realise that often it doesn’t happen where people are and need it.”

Centre for Youth Impact to take on 'national leadership' role
Youth minister Rob Wilson said the role is part of plans for the "next phase" of the Centre for Youth Impact, which will see it become a central point of information and a forum for discussing impact measurement of practice in the youth sector.
It will also offer an online source of impact measurement resources for youth sector organisations, and provide an insight into how young people can play an active role in measuring the impact of the services that they take part in.
