Networking Can Be Easier Than You Think

It’s not unusual for students to feel intimidated by networking or to struggle to figure out how to start the conversation.

Making connections and having conversations with people who share your interests -- friends, fellow students, family, faculty, employers, and alumni -- is one of the most effective ways to explore different career paths and learn about job and internship opportunities.

In this month's blog post, undergraduate Peer Career Advisor, Maya Omori from the Class of 2020 writes about how networking was easier than she expected (especially by using BrownConnect's website).

BrownConnect's Linking Internships and Knowledge (LINK) Awards

This is the last chance for rising seniors, juniors and sophomores to earn summer funding through BrownConnect Link Awards. These stipends can enable you to participate in unpaid or low-paying summer internships.

To be eligible for a LINK award, undergraduates must apply for or secure an internship that is either unpaid or that pays $1,000 or less before applying for funds. The stipend for a domestic internship is $3,500, and is $5,000 for an internship abroad.

The next (and final!) BrownConnect LINK Deadline is Wednesday, April 10 at 12 p.m.!

Apply on the UFunds site!

But, statistics prove that your first job isn’t what you’ll be doing forever! A first job typically another (exciting!) learning experience.
