2nd Grade eNews

Don’t forget, we will not have school Friday, May 18th.  We can’t believe we are almost done with this year.  I  have loved this group of students!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother’s Day!

• Bible:  We have a review unit in our Bible workbook on all the Bible characters we have studied throughout the year.  Instead of a Bible Verse this week, we are memorizing the New Testament Books of the Bible in order.  We are using a song and practicing at school.  We will not have any Bible tests this week.
• Reading:  Our story will be “Now & Ben.”  Our skill will be Compare and Contrast.  We will also research some inventors and inventions this week.
• Phonics:  Words with long vowels sounds using oa, ow, ee, ea:  seated   keeps   speed   seen   means   clean   groan   roast   bowls   crow   owe   grown   green   snow   peace   below
• Spelling:  We will not have a spelling test this week.
• Grammar:  Choosing between adjectives and adverbs
• Math:  We will review reading a clock, fractions, metric measurement, and problem solving this week.
• Writing:  We will reminisce over this year and write advice for the first graders coming to second grade.

• May 18:  NO SCHOOL
• May 21:  Teacher Appreciation:  Students may bring $0.50 for popcorn as we watch a movie.
• May 22:  Students may dress like a tourist for $1, proceeds go to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
• May 23:  Last Day of School and Awards Day at 8:15 in the Worship Center!  School will be dismissed immediately after the awards program –NO EXTENDED CARE.
