Free SoundBites concert series coming next month Downtown OKC Inc., SandRidge Energy and Bank of Oklahoma have invited some of Oklahoma City's most talented artists to fill the downtown air during the 2012 SoundBites concert series. SoundBites concerts are scheduled every Thursday in May from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Bank of Oklahoma Plaza (201 Robert S. Kerr) in downtown OKC. 11th Annual AIA Architecture Tour The 11th Annual AIA Architecture Tour is set to take place on Saturday, Apr. 14 from noon – 6:00 p.m. This year’s event features nine locations on the self-guided tour:

Biting the Apple goes glam Biting the Apple: GLAM is a provocative art and performance event for adults. this Friday and Saturday, April 13 & 14, 7 p.m. to Midnight at IAO Gallery. Glam is the shortened version of the word ‘glamour,’ a word that is often used to describe something that is or appears better than the real thing. Biting the Apple 2012: GLAM encourages artists of all media to explore the desire for those things which are better than reality. In addition to the art, guests will enjoy performances by TNT Burlesque, Jabee Williams, Balthazar, Perpetual Motion Dance, The Ladies Of The Boom, 7 Deadly Sins, 2XLP, live painting by Marcus Muse & Co., accessories by Punish Petal, a Hair & Makeup event by Hair Lounge and Velvet Monkey, and beats all night provided by the one and only, Sir Martin. Cocktails and delicious dishes will be served by the movers & shakers of Picasso on Paseo, The Roadside Chef, Joey’s Pizzeria, Flip’s, Jazmo’s Bourbon Street, and more! OKC National Memorial & Museum hosts Remembrance Ceremony The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum will host a 17th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, April 19 at 8:55 a.m. Similar to previous years, 168 seconds of silence will be observed at 9:02 a.m., reflecting the moment the nation was changed forever. Governor Mary Fallin and Mayor Mick Cornett are scheduled to join this year’s ceremony. Memorial Foundation Chairman Gary Pierson will emcee the event. The ceremony will start with a bagpipe procession of the ceremony participants, led by Pipe Sergeant Kevin M. Donnelly of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Black and Gold Pipes and Drums. Edmond North High School Orchestra will provide the music, and Charity Logan will perform a special song before the reading of the 168 names. Morgan Merrell, whose mother Frankie Ann Merrell was killed on April 19, 1995, will talk about teaching the next generation this story before the reading of the 168 names of lives lost in the tragedy, read by family members and representation from five Oklahoma rescue worker agencies. A limited number of seedlings from the Survivor Tree will be available. Each year, the Memorial Facilities & Construction staff picks up Survivor Tree seeds from Sunshine Nursery in Clinton, OK, who grows the seedlings for the Memorial Foundation. Mark Bays, with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry, is the Survivor Tree consultant and has been nurturing this remarkable tree now for 17 years.
