CPC Brooklyn Community Services Delivers 250 Care Packages to Community Members

On January 19th, CPC Brooklyn Community Services partnered with supporters to deliver 250 care packages to the door steps of older adults and special needs community members. CPC IRA Residents and Staff Receive COVID-19 Vaccination

Residents of CPC Individual Residential Alternatives (IRA) at the Josephine M. Ho Community Residence for Special Needs and staff received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on January 29th. The IRA Community Residence has been operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week with staff support to provide care for the six residents living with developmental disabilities.

CPC Co-Authors Op-Ed in Queens Daily Eagle on Ranked Choice Voting

Howard Wong, CPC Civic Engagement Manager, and Jagpreet Khakh, Lead Organizer of Chhaya CDC, co-wrote the article appearing in the Queens Daily Eagle that discusses the importance of ranked choice voting and voter education in immigrant communities. The article appeared online on January 14th.

CPC Calls to Fully Fund SYEP at Youth Services Hearing

On January 13th, CPC youth program supervisor Simon Weng testified at the New York City Council Hearing on Youth Services on the importance of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for our communities. CPC Policy and Public Affairs Officer Carlyn Cowen joined a virtual rally held before the hearing to speak in alongside Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Youth Services Committee Chair Debi Rose, and Council Members Ben Kallos and Carlina Rivera.

Po-Ling Ng, CPC Assistant Executive Director and Open Door Senior Center Director, Named to City & State 50 Over 50

CPC Congratulates Po-Ling Ng, Director of Senior Services, Assistant Executive Director, for being named among the most experienced leaders in New York. When Chinatown’s beloved Open Door Senior Center opened in 1972, “we did not even have an office of our own. We simply had a desk in a rickety office shared with other programs,” recalls Po-Ling Ng.

Our community partner, the Street Vendor Project, was recently highlighted in an article on Grub Street published January 21st. CPC regularly partners with the Street Vendor Project to provide nutritious prepared meals to our community members from our Community Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
