NWT Tourism partners with TIAC to provide two workshops for the tourism industry in the NWT

Dear Tourism Industry Colleagues,

You are warmly invited to attend two free, interactive, and engaging workshops hosted by Northwest Territories Tourism, and provided by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone you feel may be interested. Workshop descriptions are below along with information on how to register for these events.

Workshop 1: SHOULDER/WINTER SEASON TOURISM
We know that tourism rebound in the NWT post-COVID will come with challenges, and that we’ll need to be prepared to welcome visitors back when the time is right. In partnership with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) we invite you to join NWTT for a free workshop with a focus on expanding shoulder season and winter product in the NWT and pushing visitation out regionally. The majority of Canada's tourism takes place in three major urban centres during the summer months with limited dispersion. As a result, many of Canada’s major cities and resorts reach capacity in the summer and command higher rates for hotels, airfares and services, while the charms and experiences of lesser known parts of Canada are overlooked. This workshop has a goal of creating strategies for how to push people to visit the NWT. It also discusses potential challenges and how to be equipped to deal with them. This workshop will be led by Twenty31 Consulting who is leading the development of tools, resources and insightful content based on the current situation, barriers, and demand levers for Canada. We invite you to participate.

SHOULDER/WINTER SEASON TOURISM Workshop Date: Tuesday, December 1st 2020, 9am-12pm

Workshop 2: CULINARY TOURISM
Every tourist needs to eat when visiting a destination. Whether knowingly or not, they are participating in food experiences in their chosen location. Join NWT Tourism, in partnership with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada for a free, engaging and interactive webinar on developing culinary experiences in the north.

Whether you’re an established business owner already in the food and beverage field, a tour operator who hosts visitors to the NWT or just interested in learning more in how to develop culinary experiences, this webinar for you. This webinar dives into how to create unique programming for your business and how to elevate the visitor experience through meaningful interactions with food and drink.
Delivered by the Culinary Tourism Alliance, this webinar will be chock full of information to get your ideas flowing and your stomach growling.

This webinar is free for anybody interested to attend, and there is a special offering for members of NWT Tourism. If you attend the session, a draw will take place for one-on-one sessions with the Culinary Tourism Alliance for individual support and program development. They are an incredibly useful resource, and this dedicated support will really benefit those wishing to expand their culinary offerings. NWT Tourism has 15, one and a half hour sessions to give away to participants. As a reminder, NWTT membership is free for the 2020/21 year. Please contact erica@spectacularnwt.com for more information to sign up for membership.
