Kenya’s capital Nairobi is notorious for appalling traffic congestion. City officials are making ambitious plans to introduce car-free days to help ease the situation. The benefits would be enormous, ranging from improving people’s health to reducing car accidents as well as noise and pollution. Haneen Khreis and Mark Nieuwenhuijsen explain.
