In this newsletter...

Welcome to those of you who are receiving this newsletter for the first time. I hope you find the information contained within interesting.

This month I discuss the concept of Healthy Aging...have you thought about how healthy you want to be as you get older?

I also introduce Jasmine Stankovic, our new NLP practitioner.

Also, we have some great special offers for you.

Until next time, you can keep up to date with us on Twitter and Facebook.  I hope to see you there.

Yours in good health,

Kaye Wright

Healthy aging.....

Have you ever stopped to consider what sort of "old age" you want?  You might have plans for your retirement such as holidays and hobbies and you hopefully have a savings/superannuation plan in place to provide for those.  But what about your health?  What are you doing about that NOW to provide for later.  Are you taking preventative action or are you just going to "hope it holds up"?

Current Australian life expectancy is around 79 for men and 84 for women.  But what interests me is "healthspan" not just lifespan.

There is enormous research into what causes health to decline with age.  Theories include:

  • accumulation of waste products/toxins
  • damage to DNA resulting in loss of ability to generate new cells
  • oxidative and inflammatory damage to tissue
  • decline in immune function
  • increasing hormone imbalance

The big diseases of aging include type 2 diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis and Alzheimer's disease and they can be linked back to these health issues.

So, healthspan may depend on your body's ability to defend from pathogens, detoxify and remove waste products and repair damaged tissue.

This means things like maintaining a healthy weight, eating a healthy diet, staying active, coping with stress, maintaining good sleep patterns and fuelling the body's detoxification pathways (liver, kidneys, lungs, skin) and immune system.

If you want to have a healthy retirement take stock of your health now.  It's never too late or too early to review where your health is at.  Don't know where to start? Take advantage of my special spring offer on a naturopathy consultation and I'll guide you through the maze.  Act now for a healthy old age and the best part is, you don't have to wait to feel the benefits!

Introducing Jasmine and NLP

Jasmine Stankovic joins LaVida this month using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to help her clients change habits and behaviours.

NLP helps people break out of the patterns of behavior that, at times, hold them back in life.  For some people it might be in their career or finances, for others it might be in love or relationships, for others still it might be overcoming addictions like smoking or gambling.  NLP uses coaching methods to evaluate and change the language we use and how it affects us.

Jasmine is a certified NLP Practitioner, a certified NLP Master Practitioner and a member of the Australian Board of NLP.  She is also currently completing a Bachelor in Applied Social Science (Coaching).

As a special introductory offer, Jasmine is offering a 25% discount on all NLP coaching sessions for the month of September 2011.  This is a fantastic opportunity to try NLP and to seize the chance to make a change in your life now!

To make an appointment please call Jasmine directly on 0450 913 170.
