Hello there!

Over the weekend I listened to this Design Matters interview with Brandon Stanton, the creator of the mega-successful Humans of New York. You should add it to your reading/listening list. Especially the second half of the interview goes really deep.

I have so much respect for Brandon's efforts to hear people out, to tell their stories, and to genuinely understand why they sometimes have the weirdest of opinions. So much to learn about empathy in that one podcast episode!

Have a great week!

This Weekʼs Line-Up

A timeless Danish designer watch
01

This Kickstarter is not just launching one watch. It kicks off with no less than 8 different designs. From the page: "Time-honored Swiss precision meets contemporary Danish design." I like the sound (and look) of that.

An app to create product mockups
02

This app will let you place your product designs (whether digital or tangible) onto high-quality, realistic photos with just a few clicks.

Your alarm as an accessory
03

It took me a little while to understand what Cloudiss actually is (their website could be a bit more informative). It's a bluetooth-powered alarm without a clock interface. The designy device connects to an app on your phone where you set a range of custom alarms. It's not a bad idea if you don't want the temptation of your phone within close reach.

Spreadsheet meets database
04

I'm using a lot of Google spreadsheets to manage content and contributors of Offscreen issues. Sometimes I wish the G Suite would offer a few more features that makes managing larger datasets easier and more customisable. That's where Airtable could come in handy. It's a spreadsheet on steroids. I currently have it open in a tab waiting to be trialled.

The A-Z of typographic terms
05

Boutique type foundry Fontsmith has created this wonderful poster of the most important typographic terms. It's free to download as a PDF and I've already ordered two A2-sized prints through our local copy shop. Thanks for making me sound smarter when talking about type, Fontsmith.

Gorgeous weather app. (One more!)
06

You can never have enough minimal weather apps. Sun is beautiful, even when the sun is not out.

Fall back on the skills you learned in kindergarten. Use your scissors, play together, and question everything.
