PHC MECA Update 2 March 2021

Kia ora member,

Outstanding Employers

Significant work has been going on to individually contact the 79 employers who had said "No" or had not responded to the NZMA ratification.

This involves setting up "serious negotiations" for each employer to re-canvass their MECA issues in order to gain agreement to the proposed 2019 MECA. This enables NZNO members in these workplaces to then participate in the NZNO ratification process and be covered by an agreed MECA.

We have now reduced the number to 40 employers which will all be canvassed this week.

In our last update we reported there were 416 employers who had said yes and it is great to report that we now have over 450 employers.

Where to next?

The NZNO ratification process will commence on Tuesday 9 March 2021. It will be an online ballot that will close on 15 March 2021.

All information about the proposed MECA will be present at that time.

Ngā mihi,

Chris Wilson on behalf of your negotiation team
